EDDIE HALLIWELL SPEAKS TO SLINKY HQ AHEAD OF HIS HEADLINE PERFORMANCE FOR SLINKY IN WONDERLAND
Eddie Halliwell is one of dance music leading lights when it comes to entertainment. We managed to catch up with him before he jetted off to Australia and get the gossip on what he has been up to and his new ED-IT project.
Hi Eddie, could you give us a brief introduction as to who you are
“I’m Eddie Halliwell. I’m a DJ and performer through and through”.
Last year you started your new “Ed-it” concept. Could you explain what this involves?
“ED-IT is a new DJ performance concept. ED-IT stands for Eddie Djing with Integrated Technology. It’s an exclusive platform for me to introduce new equipment to my set up, enabling me to be more creative than ever musically and visually, re-editing and remixing tracks live accompanied by a full stage show with special effects and visuals.”
It’s our 13th Birthday on May 1st, so were asking everyone. What would your present be to Slinky?
“I’ll be giving you all the fire you require for your birthday!’
Away from Dance Music, DJ-ing & Producing, Do you have any other passions?
“My life is pretty consumed by music to be honest – it’s what I love. I also like to keep fit.”
What is the typical “Eddie Halliwell” DJ setup consist of?
“My favourite bit of kit at the moment is the Jazzmutant Lemur. My set up is forever changing but the Lemur always remains a consistent feature – it just allows so much creativity.”
You now have your FIU radio launched, how is that going since you left Radio 1?
“It’s going fantastically well - Fire It Up is syndicated all over the world – it reaches out to millions of people instead of just a UK audience.”
What have you got planned for the rest of 2010?
“Lots going on as usual - I’m off to Australia for another 2-week tour tomorrow, Then when I get back from that it’s straight to the big birthday bosh at Slinky on May Bank Holiday!
2010 consists of a lot of world touring, my exclusive residency at Cream in Ibiza kicks off again this summer, as well as some special guest appearances at Judgement Sundays. I’ll be showcasing ED-IT at Creamfields, Fire It Up Radio will be broadcasting my live events from all over the world, I’ve just launched a new Fire It Up Podcast which is free to download from itunes and I have a few albums coming out this year…among lots of other things!”
Finally, would you say you’re mad as a Hatter?
“Behind the decks perhaps!”
