Hi Richard, Please give us a brief introduction to what your role is in Slinky?
I take a general overview of the running of Slinky - Lee is the hardworking one , he gets to handles the day to day running of the brand including tours, events, label and slinky.fm. He spend hours discussing fees and checking diaries and haggling like an old women at a fish market with over protective agents. On the night I take overall control of things , dealing with the venue managers and also running the front of house , which means making sure we get 1800 clubbers in as quickly and smoothly as possible - once thats done , I get to relax a little and the venue management take full control , I tend to keep an eye on the stage and make a nuisance of myself with my bad Judge Jules impressions.
As Slinky approaches its 13th birthday this Saturday, where do you see Slinky in 2011?
Keeping to our roots , no fitness DVDs or cheesy crossover albums from us.
It’s our 13th Birthday on May 1st, so we are asking everyone. What your present would be to Slinky?
Blood, sweat & sometimes tears!
Away from Slinky, do you have any other passions?
Slinky is a passion , its certainly not a money maker - I'm lucky enough to do a fair amount of international travel because of my "real job" which is the CEO of Yuza Mobile - we develop mobile apps for some of the worlds coolest brands. Aside to that Skyscrapers and Bathing Ape and all things Tokyo could be described as passions, people that know me, will know what I mean.
Our theme for May 1st is Slinky in Wonderland, what can we expect to see on stage?
We have alot planned so expect to see themed character in and around Bournemouth on the night plus of course in the venue. We have also hired in some fantastic stage props to give the venue that real Slinky In Wonderland feel!
What else does Slinky have planned for 2010?
Two big belters at the O2 seems to be the plan, October and one other to be announced soon! We also have lots of stuff in warmer and colder shores including events during the World Cup in South Africa plus, Greece, Brazil, Russia, Singapore, Malaysia as well as the UK so plenty going on!
Finally, would you say you’re mad as a Hatter?
These days less so, my after hours clubbing has stopped and my friend Julian the invisible goat is now longer by my side.
